EMAG is Georgia’s professional association of emergency managers dedicated to saving lives and protecting property from natural and medical disasters. We provide a forum for professionals to discuss current issues in the field and serve as a policy advisory board to local emergency management agencies and to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency. Our core mission centers on promoting professional development, fostering networking opportunities, and advocating for the emergency management profession.

EMAG offers three membership categories:

• Active/Voting Members: Local and state government personnel engaged in emergency management roles.

• Associate Members: Individuals, civic groups, or corporations interested in emergency management; approved by a sponsoring agency and enjoy all member rights except voting and office-holding.

• Corporate Members: Businesses involved in emergency management; they designate one voting delegate but cannot hold office within EMAG.

Membership fees vary by category to ensure accessibility for professionals at every career stage.

EMAG organizes training sessions, hands-on workshops, interactive webinars, and an annual conference that cover best practices, emerging threats, and policy changes. These events encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Georgia’s emergency management professionals.

EMAG serves as Georgia’s premier policy advisory board, delivering strategic guidance to local emergency management agencies and state leadership at every stage of disaster management—from proactive preparedness and rapid response to resilient recovery. Our members also take Georgia’s voice to the national stage, representing us in conferences and working groups so that frontline insights shape the future of emergency management nationwide.

Beyond policymaking, EMAG’s Legislative Committee champions our profession at the Georgia General Assembly. By lobbying for targeted legislation, sustainable funding, and regulatory reforms, we ensure that emergency managers have the tools and support needed to protect communities across the state.
